ESOL (English for Speakers of Other Languages)
Welcome!
We are so glad that you’re here, and you want to join our ESOL program.
What is the ESOL Program?
We offer classes that improve your reading, writing, speaking, listening, technology and academic skills in order to be successful in college and get a better job.
There is a $25 tuition fee for the quarter. Tuition waivers are available during the registration process.
Who the program is for?
Classes are for immigrants, refugees, permanent residents, and U.S. citizens who are at least 18 years old.

Note:
If you have a temporary visa such as F1, F2, H1, or you are an Au Pair (nanny), business travelers, or tourists, go to the International Programs website for English language training options.
When can I learn?
Class are held mostly in-person, with limited options for virtual, hybrid, and online classes. Choose a time to learn:
Fall, Winter and Spring Quarter classes are on:
Monday-Friday:
8:00 a.m.-9:50 a.m.
Monday-Thursday:
10:00 a.m.-12:20 a.m.
12:30 p.m. – 2:50 p.m.
6:00 p.m.-8:20 p.m.
Saturdays
9:00 a.m.-1:00 p.m.

New ESOL Student Orientation Information
Welcome to our program! We’re excited to help you get started.
- Sign Up for Orientation
Please visit the ELCAP Office as soon as possible to sign up for New Student Orientation. Space is limited, and sign-ups are offered on a first-come, first-served basis.
Thank you for your patience and understanding—we look forward to welcoming you!
All new students are required to complete New ESOL Student Orientation.
- Receive Your Orientation Date
After you sign up, you will receive your assigned orientation date.
New Student Orientation:
(Dates will be provided when you register.)
- Attend Your Orientation
Please attend the orientation session assigned to you by the ELCAP Office.
Attendance is required for all new ESOL students.
- Participate in Welcome Week
After completing orientation, all new ESOL students must attend Welcome Week.
Welcome Week dates will be provided when you sign up for orientation.
Special Locations
If you are taking classes at Highline’s HUB in Federal Way or at other off-campus locations, you may register on-site. You do not need to attend on-campus orientation.
Who Is Considered a New Student?
You are considered a new student if:
- You have been out of our program for more than 6 months, or
- You are new to Washington State.
